After decades of healing work, I am convinced that power is at the core of our personal and planetary issues. That is why when people ask me what I do, I tell them I am a Guide to Self-Empowered Healing. In our society, men are trained in the expansion and uses of their power, but in general, women are not. I see this clearly when I instruct women’s ice climbing courses, and encounter women who have never swung a hammer, or learned to express their anger.
People think of recovery as life after substances. But you can also recover from abusive relationships, dysfunctional childhoods, or just plain disempowering programming from our culture.
Join us this fall and winter for a series of Self-Empowerment Retreats in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Canada. With a focus on body-centred awareness through various physical practices including skiing and rock climbing, and nightly sessions designed to give you the tools to practice living in your fundamental power.
We have been taught that power is corrupt, and it certainly can be. But it is also at the core of personal sovereignty and freedom, and can lead us toward the life of meaning, purpose and joy that we have always dreamed of.

I was actually reflecting today on how feeling powerless is my biggest trigger. It can manifest itself in many different sometimes sneaky ways. I made a mental note to try to remember in difficult times that my power is ALWAYS inside of me, no one can actually take that away. This time I felt it in my bones! I can choose my thoughts and reactions 🙂
There are many ways that we can feel powerless, not only in our personal relationships, but also within society. When it happens, we need to invert the situation and ask ourselves: what is my point of power? How can I turn this situation around by taking the action that will empower me? It is almost always uncomfortable, because we will be showing up in a way that others don’t expect of us. But that is where our growth is. Thanks for being someone who is constantly looking for ways in which to grow!
